He wants to know about airships and space and what it’s like to smoke a cigarette and go for a drink in the pub. PERSONAL SOURCE: Bought from a school fete However, if are looking for a harder read with heavier topics, I suggest that you read YA books.PUBLISHER: Marion Lloyd Books (Scholastic) (And the fact that I’m giving this book such a good review is after regarding that this is a children’s book) If you are looking for a quick read that has a sweet story behind it, this is a book for you. While Ways to Live Forever deals with serious topic such as cancer, children book is a children book. (Which is probably why I don’t know the common facts, but only the weird, interesting ones) I used to search up a bunch of interesting facts and collect them on a scrapbook. List was the simplest and the quickest way to write things down, and facts just seemed fascinating. When I was young, I used to love lists and facts too. He also loves facts, which is a good combination with lists. He makes list of a lot of things, starting from list of things he wants to do before he dies, to the list of facts about airships. One feature that I really liked about this book is:

I have my ups and downs with diary-style books, but Ways to Live Forever would be in the top of the Diary-Styled book list. There is everything you need in a diary: a date on top of each page, and a record of events and experiences that the character faced on the certain day.

While Sam claimed that he was writing a book, I feel that ‘dairy’ is more of a right word choice for this. It felt as if I’m going through someone’s scrapbook, which is probably why I felt as if I’m reading a diary. I loved the little diagrams of scrap things that Sam put in between the pages. What more can you ask for from a book? (I mean, there are a lot of things, obviously.) The character development built on very well for all characters, and so did the plot. It was a quick read with an adorable story and adorable characters. Was Ways to Live Forever cliche with style? Absolutely.

(Just in case you are wondering, it is NOT a spoiler, since it literally says ‘If you are reading this, I probably died’ in the start) Well, I believe that as long as the book is cliche with style, it is worth reading. (You can read the excerpt here )Īuthors seem to love killing the main character off. He starts a book, in which he writes about himself. His cancer is getting worse each day, and he knows that he will die in just one year. Ways to Live Forever is about a 10 year old boy named Sam, who has leukaemia.
